One of the best ways to develop a better balance between home and work is to establish an office in your home that is only used when you are working. Ideally it is best to set this up in a room of your home where there is nothing else in it and which you can easily close the door to when you need to separate work from your family and your home. If this is not possible even setting aside a small corner of your living or dining room can still be effective in helping you establish a better balance as a work at home mom.

Setting up a schedule is also important in balancing the many aspects of being a work at home mom. You should take the time to make up a schedule that gives you time each day to attend to the demands of your job as well as household chores and the demands of your family. It should even include time throughout the week to see outside family members or socialize with friends since the schedule won’t work if these types of things are not factored in. Once it has been established though, you should follow it and stick to it. Doing so will help you make the most of your time in each area of your life.

If you do happen to have small children at home that don’t attend school during the day it can be even more difficult to find the balance between family life and working at home. Make sure you use the time when your children are napping or resting to work since these are the only few hours of peace and quiet you get during the day. In addition, you may find it beneficial to hire a babysitter to watch the children in another room in your home or outside a few hours throughout the week to provide you with more time to work.
