Can Your Transcription Company Provide You With Hl7 Interfacing?

HL7 interfacing: when international experts came together to discuss a safer means of transferring medical information - a better way to exchange, manage and integrate electronic records - HL7 interfacing was designed to increase the way that information would be shared. In effect, the purpose of HL7 interfacing is this: when organizations around the world need to be able to share information, to read charts and to know that information that is sent from somewhere in the United States can be used in France, England, India, Africa or anywhere else in the world. - Nonsense

That’s the broad purpose of HL7 interfacing; however, in the United States the system becomes even more practical. Hospitals as well as independent physicians’ offices all use a variety of different information systems and computer programs. That doesn’t mean though that all of those systems interact well with one another. Those who only use the system for dictation or charts may not see the necessity to have access to the patients’ billing histories, but when it comes to coding, documenting care, combining records so that a team of doctors all are seeing the same information, HL7 interfacing is absolutely necessary. – this is more like a school essay written by a 6th grader, bad language and really what is the objective of the above

With outsourced medical transcription services, when hospitals and physicians’ offices seek out a transcription company in order to simplify their work flow, HL7 interfacing continues to be of prime importance. After all, medical transcription is the process that collects results, documents care, and provides doctors and other care providers the information that they need to help maintain the health of their patients.

When your outsourced medical transcription is provided by a transcription company that understands the value or HL7 interfacing, you can be sure of a number of things. Here are two examples:

1. The information that one department sends will be readable and usable by those in another department. If, for example, a patient has been admitted to the hospital and a cardiologist, a gastro-intestinal specialist and the patient’s primary care physician are working together to provide solutions, all can be sure that they are working together; each will be able to read reports and to communicate with the others involved.

2. Patient management will be simplified. Dietary concerns, the hospital pharmacy as well as administration, laboratories and other services (including billing) will be able to create their work so that others can open the file and act accordingly.

That’s completely out of our scope. All we do with HL7 interfacing is get ADT data to aid us in getting the patient demographic info accurately into the reports being transcribed and at the end of transcription the report typed is sent back to client’s EMR system as a HL7 message –

Medical transcription companies that recognize HL7 interfacing are better able to provide the services that these hospitals need in order to continue to operate smoothly.. Anyone can read a word document, cant they? What I am going to do to make that happen, After all, the coding of an illness determines the billing code for care; the billing code can determine whether or not the hospital is reimbursed by the insurance companies. – Issues are being mixed up here, we jumped from the issue of a transcription company being able to provide HL7 interface to the ability of the Transcription company to document patient care accurately
