Father’s Day Always Falls On A Fun Day

Every dad in the world places great value on a sense of humor, especially their own. True, its deployment usually brings more cringes and red faces than the belly laughs he feels his comments so richly deserve, but as long as it entertains him and nobody gets hurt, who cares? Some dads even feel the need to tell all and sundry that they have a great sense of humour, which really shouldn’t need saying if it’s true. Perhaps they are only joking. Anyway, with Father’s Day rarely more than a year away, we’d better start thinking about gifts that match or (if this is possible) better the recipient’s self-professed wit. This shouldn’t take too long then.

Father’s Day gifts have always been much more difficult to decide upon than Mother’s Day ones. Fathers tend not to like flowers and perfume, and if there’s a gadget that would improve the quality of their lives, they’d probably already own one. This could be why humorous and quirky gifts have played such an important part in Father’s Day celebrations over the years. And it won’t take much of a search around the internet to find some novel, original and laugh-out-loud funny gifts. Finding the one that tickles dad’s funny bone is just a matter of time – and it’ll be the most fun you’ve ever had on the net.

Let’s take one example: the gift of nothing (for the man who has everything). People who complain that there is too much packaging on modern products should look at this. Without the packaging it would literally be nothing. But when nothing is packaged correctly, it suddenly becomes something. Confused? That’s nothing. Wait till you see your dad’s face.

And how about receiving a Bible as a Father’s Day gift? You can remind him that he says he likes a good book, but that this is dynamite. He’ll probably be a little baffled until he opens it up to discover a hip flask ready to be charged up with a drop of his favorite tipple. Would you Adam and Eve it?

You’re probably beginning to work out that these are no ordinary Father’s Day gifts. They are little packages of laughter that have a certain element of weirdness about them – the “Who would think of a thing like that?” element. Well we already know the answer. Weirdos. Who else could think of a toy gun that fires a ball of air harmlessly at its target and then think nothing of marketing it at grown men? Or a golf set that you play on the toilet? Or a pack of bandages that look like T-bone steaks? Or a Swiss cheese door wedge?

All of a sudden a splatted man coaster starts to look like a perfectly normal and logical object. Once this has happened, congratulations – you now inhabit the mind of a dad. The products detailed above are, of course, only the tip of a very peculiar iceberg. Look around the web and crazy Father’s Day ideas just keep on unearthing themselves; once you’ve found the one with your dad’s personal stamp on it, you’ll be giggling to yourself right until you give it to him.
